Sorong to Labuan Bajo is roughly 900 nautical miles. At a phinisi's cruising speed that is a delivery passage of four to six days each way, before fuel and crew costs — which is why the terms describe repositioning as a chargeable event rather than a routine one. Between October and April the fleet is in Papua and short notice is a real conversation; between May and September it mostly is not.
How to give a short-notice enquiry the best chance

What counts as last minute for a Raja Ampat yacht?+
Inside sixty days. That is not a marketing threshold — it is the line written into the fleet's payment terms. Beyond sixty days you pay a 40 to 50 per cent deposit and settle the balance at the sixty-day mark. Inside sixty days the entire charter fee falls due within seven days of the invoice, which is the real practical difference between planning ahead and booking late.
Can I book inside thirty days of departure?+
Sometimes, but the paperwork becomes the constraint rather than the calendar. Several yachts require passenger forms, passport copies, dive certification cards and proof of dive insurance at least one month before departure in order to satisfy local regulations. Special food and drink orders need thirty days' notice and cannot be guaranteed inside that window.
Are last-minute charters discounted?+
Not as a rule. There is no published short-notice discount structure anywhere in this fleet — rates are set by the owner and we quote the direct owner rate whether you book eighteen months out or eighteen days out. What does occasionally appear at short notice is a repositioning leg or a shortened charter priced below the standard minimum, because the alternative for the owner is moving an empty boat.

Most vessels run Sorong (SOQ) for Raja Ampat between roughly October and April, and Labuan Bajo (LBJ) for Komodo between May and September. Is a three-night Raja Ampat charter possible at short notice?+
No, on the yachts that publish a minimum. Raja Ampat minimums from Sorong start at four to five nights and reach eleven for a full north-south-central loop. A three-day gap between two confirmed charters stays empty because it cannot legally or practically be sold. How quickly can a short-notice charter actually be confirmed?+
The bottleneck is the owner's calendar and the bank, not the enquiry. A written email confirmation binds the booking; a phone or WhatsApp hold expires after forty-eight hours under the published terms. With funds moving by international transfer, allow two to three working days between agreeing a rate and having the dates irrevocably yours.
