Why Raja Ampat availability is a seven-month question
Most of the fleet is not in Papua all year. Yachts run a seasonal circuit, and the published home-port rules are what tell you when a vessel is physically in range of Sorong.

The pattern repeats across the fleet: Sorong (SOQ) from roughly October to April for Raja Ampat, Labuan Bajo (LBJ) from May to September for Komodo. A yacht sitting in Flores in July is not a Raja Ampat option for August, and embarking outside a vessel's seasonal home port attracts a repositioning fee plus a domestic flight. That single constraint removes more dates from the board than demand does.
What makes a date range bookable
Availability is not white space in a calendar — it is white space long enough to satisfy the yacht's own minimum for the route you want. These are the published Raja Ampat minimums, taken from charter terms across the fleet.

A full north–south–central loop carries an eleven-night minimum on the yachts that publish one, and charters over Christmas and New Year — 18 December to 4 January — carry a seven-night minimum in Raja Ampat regardless of route. Dunia Baru's terms go further and set twelve nights over Christmas and New Year's Eve, and seven over Easter and Idul Fitri.

The sixty-day line cuts both ways. Before it, a cancellation forfeits the deposit — forty to fifty per cent depending on the yacht. After it, cancellation retains one hundred per cent of the charter. That is why comprehensive travel insurance is recommended in every set of terms in the fleet, and why the balance date is the one to put in your diary rather than the departure date.

Availability questions
Why is Raja Ampat yacht availability never published online?+
Because there is nothing to publish. A private yacht has one calendar, held by its owner, and it changes as enquiries convert. There is no inventory pool and no booking engine behind these vessels — an availability check is a real conversation with an owner or their manager, which is why the answer comes back in hours rather than instantly.
How many charter slots does one yacht actually have in a season?+
Fewer than most people expect. The Raja Ampat season runs from October to April — about 212 nights — and Raja Ampat minimums start at five nights and run to eleven for a full north-south loop. At a seven-night minimum with a turnaround day between charters, a single yacht has room for roughly 26 charters in an entire season. That is the whole reason peak dates go early.
Can a yacht be held while I decide?+
Only briefly, and only in writing. The published terms across several yachts in the fleet state that a booking is confirmed on written email confirmation and that phone or WhatsApp holds expire after 48 hours. A longer soft hold is a favour from the owner, not a contractual right, and it evaporates the moment a second party offers a deposit on the same dates.
What makes a gap in a calendar actually bookable?+
The minimum-night rule, not the gap. A four-night window between two confirmed charters is unusable on a yacht whose Raja Ampat minimum is five nights from Sorong or seven over Christmas and New Year. When we check availability we are matching your dates against the yacht's minimum for your specific route, not just looking for white space.
When does payment actually fall due once dates are confirmed?+
5 yachts in the fleet publish their payment structure, and they converge on the same shape: a 40 to 50 per cent deposit within seven days of the invoice, and the balance sixty days before departure. Book inside sixty days and the whole amount falls due within seven days. That sixty-day line is the single most useful date to know when planning.
How far ahead do you need my paperwork?+
A month. Passenger forms, passport copies, dive certification cards and proof of dive insurance are required at least one month before departure on several yachts, to organise the charter and satisfy local regulations. Special orders — particular wines, spirits or dietary items — need thirty days' notice and cannot be guaranteed inside that window.
