Raja Ampat Luxury Liveaboard

A luxury liveaboard is a yacht that runs scheduled multi-night cruises with cabins sold individually, so you share the vessel with other guests. It combines the mobility of a private yacht with the accessibility of a hotel booking — most of the experience of a charter, without the whole-yacht cost.

Cabin rates run from around USD 400–500 per person per night on dive-led liveaboards, USD 600–900 on premium phinisi, and USD 1,000–1,900 per person per night on the ultra-luxury vessels. A 10-night trip therefore ranges from roughly USD 4,500 to USD 19,000 per person before flights and park fees.

It depends on group size. Once you have six or more people, chartering the whole yacht usually costs the same per person as buying cabins — and you get route control, private dining and your own dive schedule. For one to four travellers, a liveaboard cabin is almost always cheaper.

Around six to eight guests on the classic phinisi tier. Nataraja works out at about USD 403 per person per night when 12 guests share the yacht, and Anne Bonny at about USD 494 for nine — both at or below typical cabin pricing for the same standard of vessel.

The season runs October to April, with the densest schedule from November to March. Most yachts leave the region in May for Komodo or the Banda Sea and return in late September or October.

Dive-led liveaboards run 7 to 12 nights, with 10 and 11 nights the most common because they reach both Misool and Wayag. Luxury cabin departures are usually shorter, at 5 to 8 nights.

Three to four dives a day, including a night dive on most schedules. That is roughly 20 dives on a 7-night trip and 30 to 34 on a 10 or 11-night trip. Fenides runs an 11-day Raja Ampat itinerary with approximately 34 dives.

On dive-led liveaboards, non-divers can join but the schedule is built around dive sites and they may be left waiting. On luxury phinisi with mixed programmes, non-divers do well — the tenders split and the yacht runs snorkelling, kayaking and beach landings in parallel.

Marine park fees of IDR 1,000,000 (about USD 65) per foreign visitor, flights to Sorong, alcohol, equipment rental, nitrox on some boats, crew gratuity of 5–10%, and travel and dive insurance. Diving itself is included on dive-led liveaboards and often extra on luxury phinisi.
