Tenders matter more than toys
The tender fleet decides how much of Raja Ampat you actually reach. A yacht with three RIBs can put divers on a site, snorkellers on a reef and a beach party ashore at the same time; a yacht with one tender cannot. Lamima runs an 11 m RIB with a 250 HP outboard plus two smaller RIBs. Dunia Baru carries three, from 6.8 m down to 5.5 m. Kudanil Explorer runs an 8 m twin-200 HP RIB for long-range exploration, an aluminium landing craft and an offshore RIB. At the other end, The Oracle has a single 6 m speedboat for seven guests — fine for a small group, limiting for a mixed one.
What the marine park allows
- Motorised toys are kept away from reef flats, manta cleaning stations and village frontages
- Anchoring is restricted in protected zones — yachts use moorings or drift and pick up
- Fishing inside the marine park is catch-and-release; spearfishing is prohibited in no-take zones
- Drones need the captain's clearance and are not flown over villages without permission
- Every guest needs a marine park permit at IDR 1,000,000 regardless of activity
What to confirm
- The exact inventory for your dates — toys go ashore for servicing between seasons
- Whether motorised toys carry a fuel surcharge
- Age, weight and swim-ability requirements per toy
- How many tenders are aboard and how they are crewed
- Water-sports coverage on the yacht's insurance and on yours
- Whether the yacht will run a toy session on a passage day or only at anchor
Toy inventories overlap heavily with family suitability — see family yacht charters and charters for non-divers.
Water toy questions
What water toys are available on Raja Ampat yachts?+
Across the fleet: sea kayaks and paddleboards on every equipped yacht, plus wakeboards, water skis, towable inflatables, fishing gear, underwater scooters, eFoils and, on a handful of vessels, side-mounted water slides. 12 of our 20 yachts publish a full inventory.
Which yacht has the best water toy inventory?+
Kudanil Explorer carries the longest list at 12 documented items, followed by Kayra Phinisi and Prana by Atzaró. Kudanil Explorer also adds a rooftop jacuzzi, an onboard gym and a ping-pong table.
Which Raja Ampat yachts have an eFoil?+
Kudanil Explorer, Lamima. eFoils need calm water and a crew briefing, and are usually run from a tender away from the reef.
Are water toys included in the charter?+
Kayaks, paddleboards and snorkel kit are included on every yacht that carries them. Motorised items — jet skis, eFoils, underwater scooters — are sometimes charged as a fuel surcharge or a per-session fee. Kudanil Explorer, for example, lists guest jet-ski use at a surcharge.
Are jet skis allowed in Raja Ampat?+
Several yachts carry them — Dunia Baru, Kudanil Explorer, Lamima, Vela — but use inside the marine park is restricted, and on some vessels they are carried primarily as surf-rescue and safety craft. Expect the crew to run them well away from reef and village areas, or not at all in protected zones.
Which yachts have underwater scooters?+
Kayra Phinisi, Celestia, Lamima, Vela. Scooters extend a snorkeller's range considerably and are the single most useful toy on a drift-heavy site.
Are the water toys kid-friendly?+
Yes. Kayaks, paddleboards, towable inflatables and floating platforms all suit children who can swim, with crew supervision and life jackets. Prana by Atzaró, Dunia Baru and Kudanil Explorer add water slides off the side of the yacht, which are consistently the biggest hit with under-12s.
Can I bring my own gear?+
Bring your own mask, fins and camera housing if you prefer. Anything larger — a board, a drone, a rebreather — should be declared at booking so the yacht can plan stowage and the airline can clear it on the Sorong leg.
